A Rack-Mount PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) splitter is an optical splitter used in passive optical networks (PONs) to divide a single optical signal into multiple outputs. The rack-mount design is specifically intended for installation in a standard 19-inch rack to fit into a data center or telecommunication facility. The rack-mount PLC splitter uses a planar waveguide circuit to distribute the optical signal evenly across the output ports, minimizing signal loss and ensuring uniform power splitting. The rack-mount design typically allows the splitter to be installed in multiple configurations, such as 1U, 2U, 3U, or 4U form factors, to meet high-density fiber-optic requirements. The splitter’s connectors are typically positioned at the front of the unit to make it easier to attach and detach input and output fibers. Rack-mount PLC splitters are commonly used in various fiber optic applications such as FTTx (fiber-to-the-x), Data Center and Enterprise networking, and Telecommunications applications. These splitters come in various configurations, such as 1x2, 1x4, 1x8, 1x16, 1x32, and 1x64 to meet different networking requirements.
